Jaguar D-type
Following the success of the race designed C-type, Jaguar found themselves “ the hard trick to beat”, but that is exactly what they did. From the conception through design and build the D-type was destined to be a winner and sure enough in 1955 it achieved its first win at Le Mans.....
In total Jaguar manufactured 67 D-types specifically built for racing and as with the C-type, the majority were to be sold to teams and private individuals for competition. The D-type was a revolution in design utilising lightweight alloy and once again the aircraft-like aerodynamics, it was a thoroughbred race car with only one purpose, to be a complete racing car, fast and reliable. Despite the success and dominance D-type production was not completely sold, from the remaining cars emerged the XKSS.
If you are looking for a slice of motor racing history then the D-type should certainly be on your list. Classic Jaguar Replicas can supply this replication based on Aluminium bodywork and a tubular steel chassis, once assembled the car is a stiking replication of the original with detailing that gives the car a deceiving finish.
